Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University Nursing Students |Exams without completion of syllabus

The students of nursing colleges affiliated with the Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah (BGSB) University on Friday alleged that the varsity is compelling them to appear for the year-end examination while they have completed not even thirty percent of syllabi. The students of first and third year of the university also said that a few months back, they were verbally informed that they have been promoted for the next level. One of the first year students, who purportedly was told that they have been promoted to second year, said, “Either the teaching faculty in the nursing colleges are befooling students in the name of promotion to next level or they have no concerns as to how students can appear for the examination while we have completed less than thirty percent of the syllabi,” the student said. She further said, “The academics of our first semester started in November2019 and that lasted for less than a month and in December 2019 winter vacation was announced. On March 17 we were asked to vacate the campus following the outbreak of COVID-19.”“Our online classes for first year started from April 1 and till date only four online classes have been taken by our college authorities that also in only one subject (Nursing Foundation).

In other subjects, no teacher was conducting online classes,” she alleged.Another student said that the concerned college authorities in July-August started holding presentations and submission of assignments.“At that time the college authorities even conducted all internal examinations in one go and our teaching faculty verbally told us that they will start holding classes for the nextsession,” she said.

The students said that in July this year they were asked to remain prepared for online exams and even the teachers at their respective colleges informed them m that the first year students have been promoted to the next level. The aggrieved students said that the college authorities are concealing the facts about completion of syllabi in only three months.“Of the first year, we have completed less than 30 percent of the syllabi and it takes a year to complete the whole syllabi,” they said.BGSB Controller of Examinations, Mohammad Ishaq said that the respective college authorities have stated that they completed the whole syllabi.“We have already received the report of syllabi completion from the respective college authorities wherein they have stated that they have completed the syllabi of both first and third year,” Ishaq said.He also said that he received complaints from the students pertaining to the issue.“To bring more clarity to the students, I will look into this matter one more time,” Ishaq said.
