JKBOSE revises English textbook syllabus for 11th, 12th classes

Srinagar, Dec 19: The J&K Board of School Education ( BOSE) has revised 11th and 12th class English syllabus for J&K and Ladakh even as it has updated the content of the General English textbook to be taught from November- December academic session 2020- 21.

". . . the syllabi and textbooks of general English for classes 11 & 12 have been revised and changed," reads a notification issued by director academics JKBOSE, Dr.Farooq Ahmad Peer.

Subsequently, the new textbooks published by the NCERT have been prescribed from the academic session Nov- Dec 2020- 21 for Kashmir division, winter zones of Jammu division and UT of Ladakh.

The new edition of the textbooks will be introduced in schools of summer zones of Jammu division from March 2021.

The new books published and prescribed for class 11th by NCERT are Hornbill which will be taught as core course while as snapshots will be taught as supplementary course.

For class 12th, the NCERT has published Flamingo as core course while as Vistas will be taught to students as supplementary course.

The Board has also notifi ed that as per the new syllabus and scheme of assessment, 80 marks will be allo  ed to theory examination and 20 marks to internal assessment in both the classes.

" The question papers will be set from the revised syllabus and courses of study for annual regular examination including fresh private candidates who will appear in exams in October- November, 2021 in Kashmir division and winter zones of Jammu division besides UT of Ladakh," the notifi cation reads.

The scheme will also apply for the candidates who have to appear in annual regular ( Feb- March 2022) exams in summer zone areas of Jammu division.
