Transporters in Jammu and Kashmir to go on indefinite strike.

JAMMU FEB 21 , 2021 :

The transporters of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir have decided to go on indefinite strike from February 24, 2021.

The decision in this regard was taken in a meeting of All J&K Transport Welfare Association held here today under the leadership of senior members-Vijay Singh Chib, Kuldeep Singh and Mohinder Singh.

The presidents of all Commercial Transport Associations from Kashmir including - Nazir Ahmed and Mudassar Bashir Dar also attended the meeting at Ware House, Jammu.

It was unanimously decided in the meeting that all the transport vehicles will remain off the road from coming Wednesday, till the demands of the transporters are addressed.

They said Association is demanding revision of passenger fare and waive off Token/ Passenger tax during the lock down period of one year.

They said transporters had observed one day token strike on January 6, 2021 and Govt during meeting had assured to resolve their issues within one week. But they only gave false assurances.

The prices of diesel and petrol have crossed all the previous records and under such circumstances operation cost of the vehicles has also increased manifold .

The Govt is not considering this fact and forcing transporters to go for agitation, they added.
