Girls outshined boys by securing large number of slots in all the disciplines of 12th class, results of which was declared by Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education on Sunday after successfully concluded the evaluation process despite unprecedented and innumerable challenges posed by the spread of COVID-19 pandemic and consequent lockdowns.

A total of 45,306 candidates appeared in the aforesaid examination at 514 Examination Centres, out of which 35,840 have been declared qualified constituting 79 per cent of the total examinees. Out of total 45,306 examinees, 25,370 were boys and 19,929 were girls.

Girls have again outnumbered boys by scoring a pass percentage of 83 per cent whereas boys stood at 76 per cent.
Of 881 positions in Science, Arts and Commerce, girls got 572 slots and boys got 309 slots.

Interestingly, the toppers come mostly from private schools. Of the 881 positions, private schools claimed 635 slots while the remaining 246 went to the government schools, despite having ‘highly qualified’ staff.

In Science stream the first position has been shared by Aryaveer Singh from Shishu Niketan Higher Secondary School Samba and Liza Sharma of S.P Higher Secondary School Bari Brahmana with 496 (99.2 per cent) marks each while second position was shared by Anmol Prabha of Govt. Though the papers were conducted as scheduled in the date sheet notified by JKBOSE but examination in some subjects could not be conducted due to the threat of COVID-19 pandemic.

The first 10 positions in Science stream were shared by 614 students-362 of them girls while in Commerce, the first 10 positions were shared by 150 students, including 110 girls. 117 students, 100 of them girls, shared the first 10 positions in Arts stream. Of the total students, 19,056 got distinction, while 11,556, 4,859 and 369 secured first, second and third divisions respectively.
Topper students credited their teachers and parents for the success, anticipating that they want to shine in every sphere of life.

Considering the academic career and interest of the students JKBOSE has awarded marks in these left out papers according to the Govt approved assessment criteria by awarding proportionate percentage of marks as was decided by its Academic Committee notified vide Notification no. F(Acad-C)result/XII/20-21 dated June 23, 2021, JKBOSE official said.

“ Those candidates who are not satisfied and ready to accept their results declared after awarding marks on average basis as per above given notification shall be given chance to appear in the examination as when the same is feasible to be conducted,” official added.

Prof. Veena Pandita, Chairperson, JKBOSE expressed her gratitude to the UT Govt. of J&K, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Advisor to LG, School Education Department and B.K Singh, Principal Secretary, School Education Department for unconditional support in tough times, Secretary JKBOSE, Director School Education Jammu, entire divisional and district level administrative machinery, whole team of the officers and officials of JKBOSE Jammu Division and teachers who have tirelessly contributed for the flawless conduct of examination followed by immense cooperation in evaluation.

“ JKBOSE has maintained the trust of students and society by fulfilling its promise of declaring results despite extra-ordinary disruption caused by the lockdown. I appreciate one and all associated with this job. 

The result has been quite satisfactory with an overall pass percentage of 79 %. My special greetings to the girls who have once again excelled in these exams. 

I congratulate the successful candidates for fruition their hard work and good wishes to those who could not make it this time. They should surge ahead with renewed enthusiasm and revised strategies for the next chance provided as another opportunity to prove their worth”, she added.

In order to facilitate the access of students to the result gazette, the JKBOSE has made adequate arrangements through various media. The result is available online on the official website of JKBOSE The candidates can also avail SMS facility by sending the text message to 5676750 by typing jkbose12 followed by a space and Roll No. e.g., ” jkbose12 Roll No.”.

Those who don’t have access to Mobile Phones or internet can get their results from their nearest JKBOSE office where the soft copies of result gazettes have been provided. The result is also available in the offices of the Deputy Commissioners of the concerned districts for the convenience of the students and general public.

In case of any query regarding this result, the students have been advised to avoid visiting the JKBOSE office Jammu physically due to COVID-19 restrictions. However, they can email their query at jssecrecy_jd@jkbose.co.in citing all the relevant details which shall be addressed after due processing at the earliest possible.

Meanwhile, Ayra Bano, daughter of Mohd Aslam Dar and Shaheena Begum of Kotli Bhadarwah became 2nd topper (Medical stream) from Bhadarwah in 12th class examination of Summer Zone by securing 489 marks out of 500 (distinction). 

She is student of SP Smart School Jammu. She thanked School Administration and Parents for their support especially during COVID-19. Chairman District Development Council Doda Dhanantar Singh Kotwal has congratulated all for the success.

Sana Biloria, daughter of Chaman Singh Biloria and Sheetal Biloria of Gatha Bhadarwah secured 468 marks in 12th class examination of Summer Zone. She is student of Adarsh Vidya Peeth Samba. 

Aanandi Arvind, daughter of Arvind Raina and Dr Neelam Rani, student of Tagora Memorial Higher Secondary School, Digiana has secured 6th position in Commerce stream with 98 per cent marks.
