“ Gifted it to my daughter”- Father of four children writes Quran-Sharif by hand in nine months in Kashmir valley

Rayees Ahmed Khan, a pharmacy owner, is a resident of Tangdhar Karnah – a border area of the Kashmir valley, approximately 150 kilometers away from Srinagar.

Rayees said that he developed an interest in writing Quran-Sharif by hand during childhood when he was a student of a cleric, who taught him Quran. Rayees, however, couldn’t write back then.

He started writing in October 2020 and completed it this year. Due to some illness, Rayees couldn’t write for approximately three months. It took him nine months to finish writing Quran Sharif in his own hand.

“ I started writing Quran-Sharif by hand in October 2020 and completed it by 07 November 2021,” Rayees said.

The hand written Muslim holy book, which Rayees has gifted to his elder daughter, consists of 729 pages.

“ I gifted this holy book to my elder daughter, so she keeps it as a memory,” Rayees said.

Expressing his happiness over the task, he said, “Everyone, including my parents, friends, and relatives are happy and are feeling proud.”

Rayees is also planning on writing an Urdu translation of Quran-Sharif by hand. Although, before that, he is going to write another Quran Sharif for his younger daughter. He added, “I have assured her that I will write another copy for her.”

Rayees has two daughters and two sons.
