HIGHLIGHTS :

Jio has introduced the cheapest prepaid plan at 1 rupee.

The Re 1 prepaid plan from Jio offers 30 days validity and 100MB data.

Jio noted that its users will be able to make recharges through WhatsApp soon.

Jio on Wednesday silently introduced the cheapest prepaid plan price at 1 rupee.

The prepaid plan gives 30 days validity and is visible on the My Jio app but not the website.

The development comes shortly after Jio introduced SMS benefits for its entry-level prepaid plan priced at Rs 119, which earlier came without SMS benefits.

This plan is ideal for users who are not looking for many benefits but want to keep their plan active.

The plan is not available to all users and there is no word from the telco on how many people will be able to avail the plan.

First reported by Telecom Talk, the Re 1 prepaid plan from Jio offers 30 days validity and 100MB data.

After the exhaustion of 100 MB, users will get 64 Kbps of internet browsing speed. Users can find the new recharge plan in the Value Section under Other Plans in the My Jio app.

According to the report, if users recharge this plan 10 times, it would give them 1GB of high-speed data for Rs 10 as against the Rs 15 prepaid data voucher which gives 1GB data.

So essentially users will save Rs 5 on the plan. However, the Rs 15 prepaid plan is not a standalone plan and can last users until the active plan.

No other telco is currently offering a prepaid plan for as low as Re 1.

Jio revised its most basic daily data prepaid recharge Jio plan which is priced at Rs 119.

When the plan was introduced, it gave 1.5GB of daily data with a validity of 14 days.

This plan gives access to unlimited voice calls and Jio apps but did not give any SMS benefits. Jio has now revised the plan benefits to offer 300 SMS with the plan.

Meanwhile, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has released its My Speed data for the month of November 2021.

Jio retained its top position in terms of download speed with 24.1 megabits per second (Mbps) among the 4G service providers in November.

In related news, Jio users will be able to make recharges through WhatsApp soon.

During the Fuel for India event on Wednesday, Akash Ambani, the Director and Head of Strategy and a member of the Executive Committee at Reliance Jio, noted that the recharges on-the-go WhatsApp recharges will bring convenience for consumers.

He said. that the JioMart experience through WhatsApp is conversational in nature. JioMart is slated to roll out widely on WhatsApp along with Jio mobile prepaid recharges in 2022.
