Teacher arrested for taking bribe in the name of Police


RAMBAN : A government teacher taking bribes in the name of Police was arrested on Tuesday, Police said.

Police said that it received a complaint from Kali Singh of Ganote Ramban at Police Station Ramban stating that two days back his brother-in-law Sanjay Singh was called for an inquiry at Police Station Ramban in a case and to safely handover him back, the husband of the Sarpanch Panchayat Ganote Narinder Singh of Ganote, Ramban was called.

The complainant said that Narinder told them Police were demanding Rs 1 lakh to free his brother-in-law and that he could help them in settling the matter at Rs 50,000.

The complainant said that he paid an amount of Rs 30,000 in advance to Narinder.

After the matter was brought to the notice of the Police, Narinder was summoned to Police Station Ramban where he confessed to taking the money as a bribe in the name of the Police to cheat the complainant.

Police said Narinder had tried to tarnish the image and reputation of the Police.

It said that after proper verification, a case FIR No 218/2021 under section 420 of the Indian Penal Code was registered at Police Station Ramban.
