Prof Umesh Rai is new VC of Jammu University
Jammu, Mar 20 : Professor Umesh Rai has been appointed as Vice Chancellor of the university of Jammu for a period of three years.
Professor Umesh Rai who is the professor of Department of Zoology University of Dehli was one among the 14 shortlisted candidates. His appointment has been made by the chancellor LG Manoj Sinha.
An order in this regard was issued by the chancellor, University of Jammu which reads that in exercise of the powers vested in him under Section 12 of the Kashmir and Jammu Universities Act, 1969, he appoints Professor Umesh Rai as Vice Chancellor of University of Jammu for a period of 3 years.
At least 215 candidates had applied for the post of vice chancellor Jammu University, out of which 14 were shortlisted who had interacted with the search committee. (KNT)
