Nearly 12220 schools in J&K have medical checkup facilities : Report
Srinagar, June 13 : In Jammu and Kashmir, nearly half of the government and recognized private unaided schools have medical checkup facilities for the students and the staff, reveals the report.
The official document accessed by Rising Kashmir reads that at least 12,220 government and recognized private unaided schools were having the medical checkup facility for the students and the staff during the academic year 2020-21.
According to the latest figures maintained by Unified District Information System for Education (UDISE) plus, a total of 5666 primary schools from classes I-V were having the medical checkup facilities that includes 5013 schools
of department of education,
631 recognized private unaided schools and others 22
educational institutions
including recognized Madarsa’s and unrecognized.
Similarly, a total of 4479 Upper Primary Schools from Classes I-VIII were having the facility. At this level, the facility was available for the 3516 government-
run-schools, 935 recognized private unaided schools and 28 others Madarsa and unrecognized schools.
The figures further reveal that 1231 schools at secondary level were also having medical checkup facilities from both the recognized private and government schools.Pertinently, UDISE was initiated in 2012-13 integrating District Information System for Education (DISE) for elementary and secondary education and is one of the largest Management Information Systems on School Education covering more than 1.5 million schools of India with more than 9.6 million teachers and more than 264 million children. UDISE has the mandate of collecting information from all schools imparting formal education from Classes I to XII. It is also a unit of data collection and district as the unit of data distribution.
