Two School Students Get Fully Funded Admissions In United World Colleges


SRINAGAR : Two of the students of Shah-I-Hamdan Memorial Institute have secured admissions at United World College (UWC). Their IB diplomas will be funded by the UW network.

The fortunate duo is Affan Altaf and Fowzan Ul Haq. Affan has got acceptance from UWC Robert Bosch College Germany and Fowzan from UWC Mahindra College India(MUWCI).

Affan secured 70% marks which entitles him to a scholarship of 44000 euros). Fowzan secured 85% which will get him a scholarship of Rs 38 Lakhs. The aid for education will be extended by their respective colleges.

United World Colleges(UWC) is an international network of schools and educational programmes with the shared aim of “making education a force to unite people, nations and cultures for peace and a sustainable future.”

Now both of them will pursue International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB Diploma) from their respective colleges.

Affan and Fowzan passed out from SHMI in 2020. Both of them credit their success to their families and teachers at Shah-I-Hamdan. They thanked the staff for regular guidance and for putting them in contact with the right people at the right time.

Both of them were also guided by Wath, a student guidance initiative by Adeeba Tak, who herself is an alumnus of SHMI and recently graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with physics majors.
