5 higher secondary schools headless in Gurez

Bandipora, Aug 20: Five higher secondary schools in Gurez valley of north Kashmir's Bandipora district are headless which is hampering the overall functioning of schools
Details available with Rising Kashmir revealed that about five higher secondary schools in Gurez valley of north Kashmir's Bandipora District are without principals from almost one year.
Out of seven higher secondary which include Boys higher secondary school izmarg, Boys higher secondary Dawer, Girls higher secondary school Dawar,Boys higher secondary school kilshay, Boys higher secondary school Tulail, Boys higher secondary school Badugam and Boys higher secondary school Baduab, only Boys higher secondary school Dawar and Boys higher secondary school Tulail are functioning with Principals.
Locals said that the vacant post of the Principals in the government-run schools in Gurez has affected the administration in the educational institutions.

A teacher wishing not to be named told Rising Kashmir that education system in Gurez has suffered for decades in terms of staff shortage and infrastructure thus halting the smooth functioning of academic sessions of these institutions.
A local told Rising Kashmir that teachers who were recruited here on category certificates have managed their transfers to other districts of the valley instead of serving here.
He said that the administration has been making claims of making the education system better in far flung areas but those claims fall flat as students here lack basic facilities.

Meanwhile when contacted chief education officer Bandipora, G M Lone, he refused to comment on the issue. "Government may have more information about the matter," he said.
