Recently, an activist named Keshav Sharma filed a report under the Right to Information (RTI) Act, revealing that the Jammu and Kashmir government has acknowledged the existence of a significant number of vacant posts in the state.

As per the report, there are currently 273 vacancies for Naib Tehsildar and 2144 vacancies for Patwaris in the state.

The report was filed on 17th January 2023 in the office of Government Financial Commissioner, Revenue J&K under the RTI Act, and the government responded by confirming the number of empty positions in the state.

The disclosure of the large number of vacant positions in the state has caused unease among unemployed youth in Jammu and Kashmir. They are now calling on the government to advertise the vacancies immediately.

The unemployment rate in the state has been a persistent issue, and the news of so many empty positions has only added to the concerns of the jobless youth.

The positions of Naib Tehsildar and Patwari are critical in the state, responsible for revenue collection, land administration, and other significant functions.

The government’s inability to fill these vacancies is troubling, as it may affect the seamless functioning of the state’s revenue collection system.

Furthermore, the lack of personnel in these roles could lead to delays and a backlog in the processing of land-related documents.

The unemployed youth in Jammu and Kashmir are now urging the government to fill the vacant positions promptly.

They believe that this move would not only provide much-needed employment opportunities but also aid in the smooth functioning of the revenue collection system.

As of yet, the Jammu and Kashmir government has not commented on the issue. However, it is hoped that they will take note of the concerns of the unemployed youth and take appropriate measures to address the vacant positions.
