Bandipora, March 05: Dairy farming is a major source of livelihood for many rural families and is constantly growing with a focus on increasing milk productivity and improving quality milk.

Realizing that dairy farming has potential to generate good profit and employment, Peerzada Muqeem decided to set-up a milk processing plant in his native place- Papchan area of North Kashmir's Bandipora district.

While talking to Rising Kashmir, Muqeem, a post-graduate in in Diplomacy Law and Business said that he is collecting raw milk from local dairy farms and then he provides pasteurized milk to markets while making different milk products including ghee, butter, cheese, curd etc.

On an average basis, two to three hundred litres of pasteurized milk is supplied to the market each day from his processing plant and shortly he will improve it and would be above thousand litres by the end of this month. "I remained aloof from the price game and brand game but I am assured that the quality of milk is comparatively better, "Muqeem assured.

Muqeem remained committed to his work even during the pandemic and faced difficulties and disturbances with resilience. Commencing a business always involves risks, but Muqeem has overcome all these challenges and explored different things to make the processing plant operational.

"In any startup, there should be personal interest, guidance and support from family and efforts are more important. I went through various difficulties and disturbances during Covid-19 but I never took a break even during the pandemic", Muqeem stated.

Muqeem further stated that it took him 3 to 4 years in planning execution but due to firmness towards the work he explored different things during these years and ultimately concentrated on the work and it is now operational.

Muqeem credited his success to Animal Husbandary department especially District Animal Husbandary Officer Bandipora, Dr G A Lone who assisted him on every step to ensure his success.

"While Promoting our work we went through various risks but those risks helped us and made it possible for us to become able to explore new ways and avenues in this sector and only after exploring everything was beneficial for us", he added.

Hopefully, other things will also be achieved. Our brand, Vesperia organic has a good demand in the market now. Mostly people from nearby areas purchase it from us", Muqeem concluded. Rising Kashmir
