JKSSB to hold deferred exams soon, transparency our top priority: LG Sinha

Budget good for strengthening the base for the new J&K
Srinagar, Mar 15: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday said the computer based examinations that were deferred will be conducted once the Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board (JKSSB) gets fully satisfied .

Talking to reporters in Jammu on the sidelines of inauguration of Chancellor's trophy at University of Jammu, LG Sinha said the examinationhas been deferred for the time being and will be conducted soon when the JKSSB will be completely satisfied (with the situation).
"Even a single doubt concerns us, as transparency is our priority. Be it recruitment based on merit, we are not ready to compromise," he said.

The Lieutenant Governor said the budget for Jammu and Kashmir for 2023-24, presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Parliament on Monday, was praiseworthy.Welcoming the Rs 1.18 lakh crore budget announced by the Centre for Jammu and Kashmir, the Lieutenant Governor said this will help the “new J&K” to reach new heights of development.

“The budget should be looked into in totality. We have made our plan for holistic development with focus on all major sectors. The budget is commendable and it will help to take new J&K, the foundation of which was laid earlier, to new heights of development,” he said.

Replying to a question that J&K budget has focused more on the security part, LG said the budget should be seen in totality and 70% population is dependent on agriculture & allied sector.

"The plan that we have made for holistic development has a good place in the budget. In the coming five years, extra Rs 5,013 crore will be added to the budget," he said.

"Security is an essential aspect for J&K, even tourism, youth empowerment, and education are the sectors that we focused on. We are making a new start with Industrial investment. In totality, the budget is good for strengthening the base for the new Jammu & Kashmir," he said.

Reacting to the statement of former J&K CM Mehbooba Mufti, Lt. Governor said that he will not respond to any allegations. But the truth is that more than 47 people who were involved in anti-national activities were removed from jobs in J&K, he added.

“When they were recruited, I don’t need to provide its evidence and people know it very well,” he added.

Earlier on March 15, the Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board (JKSSB) deferred all Computer Based Examinations for various posts from March 16 to April 5, 2023.

The move came a day after LG Sinha said the recruitment process will be held in a transparent manner. Those who recruited families of terrorists are questioning scam in exams. They have no right to question it. They have recruited one lakh people through backdoor entries and they have no role in it, LG said.

“I promise that recruitment will be based on merit and in a transparent manner. Time has gone when jobs were being sold in the shops and people were selected on the basis of recommendations,” LG Sinha added. Rising Kashmir
