SKUAST-K Faculty of Forestry Scholar bags Young Researcher award


A scholar of Faculty of Forestry SKUAST Kashmir, Mir Muskan Un Nisa has bagged ‘Young Researcher Award’. 

She bagged the award during the 3-day International Conference on ‘Innovative approaches in Agriculture, Horticulture and Allied Sciences (IAAHAS,2023)’ held at SGT University Gurugram in Hybrid mode.

According to Asian News Hub (ANH), the conference was attended by various dignitaries across India and featured over 15 international speakers.

A scholar of Faculty of Forestry SKUAST Kashmir, Mir Muskan Un Nisa was chosen for the ‘Young Researcher Award’ in recognition of her work in Post Graduation on ‘Morpho-chemical characterisation of Aconitum heterophyllum a critically endangered medicinal plant of Kashmir Himalayas’ additionally to her prior accomplishments, which were evaluated by the award’s screening committee of Indian Society of Agriculture & Horticulture Research Development (ISAHRD) one of the largest Professional Scientific Bodies of Agricultural & Horticultural Scientists in India.

Under the supervision of Dr. Peerzada Ishtiyak Ahmad Assistant Professor in Division of Forest Products and Utilization, Mir Muskan Un Nisa conducted her Post Graduate research on the medicinal herb Aconitum heterophyllum which is critically endangered medicinal plant in high altitudinal range of Kashmir.

She undertook this study in order to preserve and cultivate Aconitum heterophyllum for commercialization.

She is recipient of 15 national and international awards including best paper presentation awards besides awards of appreciation from Government of Jammu and Kashmir.

Currently, she is pursuing her Ph.D under the guidance of Professor Parvez Ahmad Sofi, Head Division of Forest Products and Utilization. (ANH)
