10 Years on, School Building at Bandipora's Tulail yet to be completed; Students suffer
Srinagar, Apr 18: The residents of Malangam area Tulail in north Kashmir's Gurez Tehsil on Tuesday expressed anguish against authorities for failing to complete the construction of a high school building from the past 10 years.
Locals told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that due to the lackadaisical approach of higher authorities the smooth functioning of the school had been suffering badly from a long time as the students have only two rooms for ten classes.
The locals said that the secondary school is functioning in an old primary school building which is not in a favourable condition, thus leaving both students and teachers in deteriorated conditions.
The condition of the present school is getting worse each passing day, Irshad Ahmad, a local said, adding that they have approached the administration about the issue many times but no action was taken.
Muhammad Amin, another local, said that the lack of infrastructure for these schools has left students in the lurch who have to study in cramped up spaces. “I feel like I'm always cramped and uncomfortable in my classroom.
There are too many students and not enough room for us to move around and work comfortably. It's hard to focus on my studies when I'm constantly bumping into my classmates or struggling to find space to work,” Shaziya, one of the students said.
“Sometimes it feels like I'm not getting the education I deserve because we don't have enough resources or space to learn properly. I just wish we had a bigger, more well-equipped school that could provide us with the space we need to succeed,” she said.
The locals and students appealed to the Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha to personally look into the matter and ask the concerned department to expedite the construction work and complete the project without any further delay—(KNO)
