CUET UG 2023 (Participating Universities): Jamia Hamdard University; eligibility, scholarships, courses


Jamia Hamdard offers programmes of study in the field of Pharmacy, Medicine, Nursing, Chemical and Life Sciences, Engineering, IT Management to name some.


Jamia Hamdard University, New Delhi, will commence its admission process from May 21 to May 31, 2023. The admissions to 12 courses will be done through Common University Admission Test (CUET). The entrance examination will be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Currently, Jamia Hamdard offers programmes of study in the field of Pharmacy, Medicine, Nursing, Chemical and Life Sciences, Engineering, IT Management to name some.  

Jamia Hamdard has 13 schools — the School of Management and Business Studies, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, School of Law to name a few and 38 departments like Department of Botany, Department of Chemistry, Department of Pharmacology, Department of Management and more.


Duration of Programmes:


The university offers a number of programmes and the duration of the programmes depends on it. The undergraduate programmes are of three years, four years and five years, depending on the course. Like Bachelor of Pharmacy, BSc (Hons) in Nursing are of four years while Bachelor of Occupational Therapy is also a four years course but a six month internship is also mandatory. Similar is the duration of the course for Bachelor of Physiotherapy. BA in Journalism and Mass Communication is a three year course and BA LLB is a five year course. 

Admissions to 12 undergraduate courses will be conducted through CUET this year. The programmes are:

BSc (Hons) – Biotechnology

BSc (Hons) – Biochemistry

BSc (Hons) – Botany

BSc (Hons) – Chemistry

BSc (Hons) – Clinical Research

BSc (Hons) – Toxicology

BSc (Hons) – Computer Science

BA (Hons) – Islamic Studies

BA – Politics and Governance

BA in Journalism and Mass Communication

BCom

Bachelor of Business Administration


Scholarships:


Scholarships for the students are looked after by the Dean of Students Welfare (DSW). DSW provides tuition fees concession to students whose whole parents’ income is less than Rs 4.5 lakh per annum. The students are granted fee concessions on the basis of merit cum means and case to a case basis. More scholarships are provided by the university like Online Minority Scholarships at the national level, Online SC/ST and OBC Scholarships – state level, Online Prime Minister Special Scholarship Scheme, Students Aid Fund for financial help to the needy students and more.


Hostels:


Jamia Hamdard has six hostels which are separate for boys and girls and international or NRI students. The hostel constitutes:-

Single seater AC Rooms
Double seater AC Rooms
Double/Triple seater Non-AC Rooms
Dormitories


Jamia Hamdard Ranking:


According to the National Institute of Ranking Framework 2022, Jamia Hamdard University ranked 74th in the overall category and 45th in the university category. It has also been accredited A grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).


History:


Jamia Hamdard began with the establishment of a small Unani clinic in 1906 and was inaugurated by late prime minister Rajiv Gandhi on August 1, 1989. On May 10, 1989, Jamia Hamdard was given the status of Deemed to be University by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (now called the Ministry of Education).
