Class 11th student Suhani Chauhan has developed 'SO-APT', a solar-powered agriculture vehicle for farmers with zero carbon emission that can sow seeds, irrigate fields and do other agricultural tasks.

In a remarkable display of innovation and dedication, Suhani Chauhan, a Class 11 student at Amity International School, has designed and developed a solar-powered agro vehicle called ‘SO-APT’.

This ground-breaking invention aims to support farmers by significantly reducing their production costs while increasing crop yield.

The solar-operated machine was recently showcased during the National Technology Week 2023, held at Pragati Maidan from May 11 to 14.

HARNESSING SOLAR ENERGY FOR AGRICULTURAL NEEDS

With approximately 85 percent of farmers in the country facing economic challenges, Suhani Chauhan's creation offers a beacon of hope for the agriculture sector. The vehicle, powered by photo voltaic panels mounted on its top, efficiently converts sunlight into electrical energy.

This clean and sustainable power source propels the vehicle, eliminating the need for fuel consumption and ensuring zero carbon emissions during its operation.

MULTI-FUNCTIONALITY AND AGRICULTURAL APPLICATIONS

SO-APT stands out as a versatile and multifunctional agro vehicle capable of various agricultural tasks, such as seed sowing, spraying, irrigation, and field digging. The vehicle's design includes portable equipment, making it adaptable to different farming requirements.

Equipped with a fully charged battery, it can cover a distance of 60 kilometres and carry a load of up to 400 kilograms. Additionally, the vehicle features adjustable speed settings, allowing for precise control during different agricultural operations.

ECONOMIC AND ENVIRONMENTAL ADVANTAGES

Suhani Chauhan's solar-powered agro vehicle not only provides cost-effective solutions but also offers long-term benefits for farmers.

By harnessing solar energy, the daily operating cost of the vehicle becomes nearly zero, alleviating the financial burden on farmers.

Furthermore, the vehicle's simple design with fewer moving parts reduces maintenance costs and ensures its longevity, requiring battery replacement only after five to six years.

EMPOWERING FARMERS AND ENSURING SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE

Motivated by a deep understanding of the challenges faced by farmers in the country, Suhani Chauhan's passion for scientific research inspired her to create this unique agricultural machine.

By catering to the needs of economically disadvantaged farmers, the SO-APT vehicle aims to enhance crop yield and improve productivity across the agricultural sector.

With zero carbon emissions and a commitment to a sustainable and clean environment, this solar-powered innovation represents a significant step towards transforming Indian agriculture.

With further support and investment in such innovative solutions, India's agricultural landscape is set to witness remarkable progress and prosperity.

By harnessing solar energy, the daily operating cost of the vehicle becomes nearly zero, alleviating the financial burden on farmers.

‘SO-APT’ aims to increase crop yield and lower the daily operating cost to nearly zero, thanks to solar power.
