Implementation of NEP will help students enter into professional world with power of infinite creativity

‘Students won't remain confined to classrooms, Syllabi only’

Srinagar, Jun 24: Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Saturday said that with the implementation of New Education Policy (NEP), students will enter into the professional world with a power of infinite creativity.

Addressing the students and faculty during the second convocation at Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) Awantipora, Sinha said, “I believe that with the implementation of NEP, students won't remain confined to the syllabi and classrooms only. With this the students will come out into the professional world with a power of infinite creativity.”

According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Sinha on the occasion said, “I am truly proud of our daughters who have bagged the maximum gold medals.”

The LG said that he was told that out of 72 gold medals, at least 46 have been bagged by the girl students of IUST which amounts to more than 60 percent among the all.

“I can proudly say that the unique half of the society includes, brilliance, peace, harmony, creativity, leadership equality and courage,” he said.

Sinha congratulated all the students and staff members. “IUST is one of the top most educational institutes of higher education.”

“It is true that we need to celebrate the success of our good medalists and toppers but more than that, we must celebrate the creativity, curiosity, critical thinking, righteousness and individuality which have been nurtured by IUST,” he said.

The LG further said that these values are invisible gold medals that will empower you to create a better future for the country as a responsible citizen.

“Under the leadership under Prime Narendra Modi, National Education Policy (NEP) that is empowering our students to succeed in a machine dominated world with the perfect balance in inner and outer growth for the students,” Sinha said.

Stating the importance of studies, LG Sinha said that when the first letter of the holy Quran was revealed to Prophet Mohammed (SAW) was ‘Iqra’ that means read.

“I believe that with the implementation of NEP, students won't remain confined to the syllabi and classrooms only. With this the students will come out into the professional world with a power of infinite creativity,” he said.

The LG further said that he believes that those teachers are the best who are capable of creating human capital and who do not only think of covering syllabi but also take challenges to teach something different in the class that would be beneficial for the students and the country.

“Keeping in view the era of Artificial intelligence (AI), we need to understand the challenges and those works which are relevant in today's world,” he said.

In the meantime, advisor to LG, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar in his address during the convocation said, “I would expect each student to be the problem solving individual not only for themselves but to the whole society and for your country.”

Bhatnagar said, “We all know that Jammu and Kashmir is seeing a new sunrise. It is a land of opportunities like never before.”

He requested all of the students to appreciate the kind of support that they got from their parents and society. “I am sure that your parents and teachers are a part of your success.”

Vice Chancellor of IUST, Shakeel Ramshoo on the occasion spoke about the recent developments, initiatives related to academic, research and innovations.

“IUST is conscious about its role for the goodwill of the society and in meeting public expectations. We are fully prepared to fulfill this role through innovation, creativity and judicious planning,” Ramshoo said.

He said that IUST have devised a five year strategic plan for the university from (2021-26) which will focus on development administration, infrastructure development, research, academics, outreach and planning.

He said that on the second convocation, IUST will be felicitating 72 gold medalists and 120 merit holders—(KNO)
