Monastery School Likir gets Computer Lab - Div Comm Biswas hands over Computers



Biswas urges students to use the computer lab and technology extensively


Leh, July 01: With an aim of providing basic educational facililtes to the children studying in the monastery school of Likir, and an emphasis on the use of computers, Divisional Commissioner Ladakh Saugat Biswas today handed over eight sets of computers to Likir Gompa School for the setting up of a modern computer lab for the students.

The Divisional Commissioner visited the school where he interacted with the children and the teachers and took stock of additional requirements for enhancing the teaching and learning experience at the school. 

At the library, Biswas highlighted the need to make learning interesting for the children by means of a good collection of age-specific books. He also spoke of the need to upgrade with changing times and stressed on the importance of technical skills, especially the use of computers and contemporary gadgets. 

The school has students from Likir and far off places in Kargil and Leh districts. In his detailed interaction with the students of the Likir gonpa he appreciated their deep interest in mathematics, science and languages. It was encouraging to hear the aspiration of the students to become teachers of philosophy, engineers, policemen, doctor and painter said Biswas. 
 
At the initiative of the Divisional Commissioner Saugat Biswas, the computers were provided by HDFC bank as part of their CSR activities. Biswas praised the HDFC team for bringing in the computers in tight timeline.
