Jammu & Kashmir Government Sets New Timelines for Filling Job Vacancies

The General Administration Department of the Government of Jammu and Kashmir has issued a crucial notification aimed at expediting the recruitment process within the government sector. The notification emphasizes the adherence to the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services (reference of vacancies and holding of meetings of Departmental Promotion Committees), Rules, 2005, which outlines the procedures for referring vacancies to recruiting agencies.

The rules stipulate specific timelines for various actions related to the recruitment process:

1. Identification of Vacancies: The process of identifying vacancies to be referred under the direct recruitment quota should be initiated two months prior to 15th January of every calendar year, i.e., by 15th November of the preceding year.

2. Finance Department Concurrence: For Non-Gazetted/Class-IV (MTS) vacancies, the referral of proposals for the concurrence of the Finance Department should be completed one month before 15th January of every calendar year, i.e., by 15th December of the preceding year.

3. Referral to JKPSC/JKSSB: The actual referral of vacancies to the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) and the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) is mandated to be completed by 15th January of every calendar year.

4. Submission of Annual Status Report: Departments are required to submit the Annual Status Report to the General Administration Department in terms of Rule 5 of SRO 166 of 2005 by 31st January of every calendar year.

To ensure the smooth execution of these timelines, each Administrative Department is directed to nominate a Nodal Officer, not below the rank of Special/Additional Secretary. This designated officer will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring the completion of procedures within the specified timelines.

This proactive approach is expected to streamline the recruitment process, addressing delays and facilitating the timely filling of vacancies within the government departments of Jammu and Kashmir. (J&K Student Alerts)
