Authorities Order Closure of Schools in Parts of Jammu Kashmir

All schools, Colleges across Jammu and Kashmir to remain closed on Friday May 9 and Saturday May 10: Education Minister Sakina Itoo
Srinagar: Director School Education Kashmir, Ghulam Nabi Ittoo, on Thursday said that all government and private schools in select areas of Kashmir will remain closed for two days as a precautionary measure.
He said, “All government and private schools of Baramulla, Kupwara, Sub-Division Gurez, and schools located near Srinagar and Awantipora airports shall remain closed on May 9 and 10, 2025, as a precautionary measure.”
Divisional Commissioner Jammu on microblogging site X said, “In view of the prevailing situation all Schools, Colleges & educational institutions (private as well as Government) in the districts of Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Rajouri and Poonch shall remain closed tomorrow on 9th May as well.”
The decision has been taken in view of the current security situation and to ensure the safety of students and staff, he added. (With Inputs from JKNS)
