J&K Govt Allows 15% Syllabus Concession for Summer Zone Board Exams 2026
Relief for Class 10th, 11th & 12th Students of Jammu Division
Jammu, January 29, 2026:
In a significant relief for students, the Jammu and Kashmir Government has approved a 15 per cent syllabus concession for Class 10th, 11th and 12th students of the Summer Zone of Jammu Division who are appearing in the Annual Regular Board Examinations 2026.
The decision was taken in view of the academic challenges faced by students during the previous session due to prolonged disruptions, officials said on Thursday.
15% Syllabus Relaxation Approved
Officials within the government confirmed to Kashmir News Corner (KNC) that it was decided to grant a 15 per cent syllabus relaxation for students of Classes 10, 11 and 12 belonging to the Summer Zone of Jammu Division.
The relaxation will be applicable for the Annual Regular Board Examinations 2026 being conducted by the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE).
Reason Behind the Government Decision
The move comes after widespread academic disruptions during the last academic year. According to officials, students were unable to complete the syllabus on time due to:
- Prolonged spells of inclement weather
- Flood-like situations in several areas
- Prevailing war-like circumstances
- Repeated interruptions in classroom teaching
These factors collectively affected the teaching-learning process across schools in the Summer Zone, prompting the government to step in with an academic relief measure.
“The decision has been taken to compensate for the learning loss and ensure fairness for students appearing in the upcoming board examinations,” officials said.
Objective of the Syllabus Concession
The primary objective of granting the syllabus concession is to:
- Ensure academic parity among students
- Prevent Summer Zone students from facing any disadvantage
- Reduce exam-related stress
- Provide a fair and balanced evaluation environment
Officials said the move is aimed at protecting students’ academic interests and maintaining equity in assessment standards.
