JKBOSE–HED Academic Calendar Mismatch: College Admissions Decision Under Review, CUET Also Being Evaluated
Srinagar, January 22, 2026:
The Jammu and Kashmir government is actively reviewing college admission timelines following a mismatch between the academic calendars of the Jammu & Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) and the Higher Education Department (HED). The matter, including the future of CUET for undergraduate admissions, is under consideration at the highest level, officials said.
Background: Why the Admission Issue Has Arisen
The issue surfaced after JKBOSE recently declared Class 12 results for students in both Kashmir Division and winter zones of Jammu Division. Due to differing academic calendars between JKBOSE and HED, students have expressed concern over possible delays in college admissions.
According to official data:

- 72 colleges in Kashmir Division
- 22 colleges in winter zones of Jammu Division
- This impacts students aspiring for admission in around 95 government degree colleges across J&K.

- Any change will be communicated officially to students
