The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has issued an official notification dated 08 April 2026 regarding the improvement of performance for Class 10th (SSE) candidates. The board has introduced revised rules and provisions for students seeking to improve their marks in upcoming examinations.

The latest JKBOSE notification outlines new regulations for performance improvement applicable to Class 10th students. These rules will come into effect from the Annual (Private) / Bi-Annual Examination 2026 onwards.

Who is affected?

  • Class 10th (SSE) passed candidates
  • Failed (not qualified) candidates
  • Candidates seeking division improvement
  • Re-evaluation applicants (Class 10th, 11th, 12th)

Why it is important?

This update provides students a structured one-time opportunity to improve academic performance and secure better results for future academic or career prospects.

  • Only one chance is allowed

2. For Failed Candidates

  • Candidates declared “Not Qualified” can:
    • Reappear in failed subjects

  • Also limited to one immediate chance

3. Practical Exam Rule

Detailed Explanation

The JKBOSE has clarified that this initiative is aimed at providing fair academic flexibility to students. Those who are dissatisfied with their performance now have a clear and limited opportunity to improve without risking their previous results.

However, the board has strictly limited this to one attempt only, making it crucial for students to prepare seriously before opting for improvement.

The rule of retaining better marks ensures that students are protected from scoring lower in the improvement attempt, especially in division improvement cases.

Student Advice

  • Apply only if improvement is really needed
  • Focus on weak subjects rather than all subjects
  • Prepare thoroughly as no second chance will be given
  • Keep track of exam notifications and forms
