The district authorities in Baramulla on Wednesday made the wearing of face masks mandatory at all public places and educational institutions across the district in view of the surge in Covid-19 cases.

According to an order, issued by deputy commissioner Baramulla, Dr.Sehrish Asgar (IAS), there has been a recent spike in COVID-19 positive cases in UT of Jammu and Kashmir in the past few days.
"It has become imperative to ensure strict implementation of all preventive measures such as usage of face masks and maintenance of social distance in all the public places, educational and technical institutions across the district to minimize the spread of covid-19 infection,” the official order added.
The order further reads that various preventive measures are recommended by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Government of India such as wearing face masks, maintenance of social distance and hand sanitization etc from time to time as effective means of COVID-19 containment.
The order stated that in view of the above and in order to safeguard public health, the use of face masks shall be compulsory at all public places, educational and technical institutions across district Baramulla, with immediate effect till further orders.
“Moreover, all district and sectoral officers, heads of educational and technical institutions shall ensure the usage of face masks by all officers, officials and students in the offices and educational/technical institutions,” it reads.
