SKUAST-K inaugurates Skill Development Programmes at College of Temperate Sericulture


Srinagar, Mar 24: Two skill development training programmes titled “Techniques in Sericulture” and “Skill Development for Sustainable Cocoon Crop Production Through Technology adoption” were inaugurated at College of Temperate Sericulture, SKUAST-K, Mirgund on Friday. 

28 trainees were registered for each programme. Dr S.F.Iqbal Qadri (Coordinator) gave a brief about the skill training programme. Dr Nisar Ahamad Ganie, Head of the Division of Cocoon Crop Production welcomed the participants. Associate Dean of the college, Prof. M.F Baqual inaugurated the programme in presence of Heads of various Divisions, scientists and trainees. 

The unemployed educated youth of district Budgam participated in the programmesand were briefly informed about the aims and objectives of the programme along with the status and role of the sericulture industry in Kashmir.

Speaking at the inaugural function, Associate Dean, Prof M.F Baqual impressed upon all the participants to actively participate in various training sessions of the programme and try to derive the maximum benefit out of the programme. 

Prof K.A.Sahaf Head Division of Silk Product Science and Prof. Zia-ul-hq-Rufaie Head division of sericulture crop Improvement spoke in detail about the relevance of the training programme keeping in view the advances made in the field of sericulture.  Rising Kashmir
