Tral Girl Makes Name In India Book Of Records For Making Portrait Of Kangri

PAMPORE, July 08: Shariqa Gulzar, a female calligrapher from Tral area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, has made her name in India book of records for making a colourful portrait of traditional fire port, Kangri.
Shariqa (20), a resident of Pinglish village in Tral, is a student of Radiology at Paramedical Institute in Bijbehara area of Anantnag district. She has been inclined to calligraphy, mandala art and sketching from an early age.
She told Sachnews that she has been encouraged by her parents in this field.
“I am very much thankful to my parents for supporting me, especially My brother who has encouraged me a lot,” she said, adding that she had a colourful picture of Kashmiri fire port on a small drawing sheet using coloured pens.
Shariqa said that she learnt about India book of records and subsequently applied.
” It was approved in May of 2023 and the certificate of appreciation was issued recently,” she said, adding that she felt very happy after receiving the appreciation letter.
She told Sachnews that this field too has a good scope, I earn a decent income from this art and youth should follow nourish their talent.
Shariqa Gulzar is taking orders from different people for making sketches, portraits and other art work. (Sachnews)
