G H Sheikh takes over as Chairman JKBOSE

Soon after assuming the charge, Sheikh convened an introductory meeting, setting out the goals for J&KBOSE organization

Jammu, Jan 14: Ghulam Hassan Sheikh on Wednesday took over as Chairman J&K Board of School Education (JKBOSE) in pursuance of the government order issued earlier.

Soon after assuming the charge, Sheikh convened an introductory meeting, setting out the goals for J&KBOSE organization.

He asked all sections to work in synergy to come up to the expectations of stakeholders and translating the academic standards on ground.

The Chairman emphasized the need to uphold the transparency, efficiency and credibility in academic and administrative processes of the Board.

“I believe in student centric policies involving hassle free delivery of services including timely conduct of examinations, declaration of results and distribution of books,” he said.

Earlier, the officers and officials of the JKBOSE gave him a rousing welcome, expressing hope about further streamlining of the organization under his meticulous stewardship.

Notably, the post of chairman JKBOSE was lying vacant for the last one year following the expiry of two year tenure of former chairman JKBOSE in January 2025.

Since then the post was being managed by making additional charge arrangements. The post of Chairman JKBOSE was being managed by the former Financial Commissioner JK Higher Education Department (HED) who attained superannuation on December 31 of 2025.

In wake of this, the post was lying vacant for more than 10 days and later the government assigned the additional charge of the post to Secretary JKBOSE, as an interim arrangement, till further orders.

"The government hereby orders that Ghulam Hassan Sheikh, Secretary JKBOSE shall discharge the functions of chairman JKBOSE, in addition to his own duties, as an interim arrangement, till further orders," reads an order issued by the Commissioner Secretary General Administration Department (GAD).

The order was issued in exercise of the powers conferred by the sub-section (1) of section 12 of Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education Act, 1975 (Act No XXVIII of 1975). (Greater Kashmir)
